A number of schools on a national basis have embarked on the building of new environmentally friendly buildings utilising the latest renewable technologies, following the guidelines of new schools building program, adapted from the latest L2 building regulations. Wilson Energy have been involved in a number of projects, firstly providing a solution of delivering an effective metering, monitoring and data collection system, which provides key information regarding energy usage and consumption. Data is displayed in a child friendly format on a large LCD screen, in the reception area of the school; this lets the children gain a basic understanding of the schools carbon footprint in a simple graphical format. Recently, WilSon Energy have had the opportunity to return to the classroom and deliver a lesson to children in a very simplistic format, allowing them to gain a basic understanding about energy and the environment, but more importantly how to save it. This was fun, whilst encouraging interaction from the children with child friendly graphics. At the end of the lesson, carried out at Coddington Primary School, a competition with prizes was ran to see how much was understood by the pupils. The company is now offering this as part of their service and are looking to expand it across various educational sectors. ![]() Picture supplied courtesy of the Newark Advertiser Your Essential Guide to M&T and aM&T Don't miss your essential guide to automatic monitoring and targetting.
