County Square Shopping Centre

A recent new development and an extension to an existing shopping centre has involved WilSon Energy in providing a turnkey project for metering, automated data collection and tenant billing. Water sub-meters (billing standard) have been installed for each retail customer and also the landlords areas, together with a wireless data collection network, which allows remote data to be gathered for energy and water consumption which is then made available on WilSon energy's on-line energy management system. A Tenant billing feature allows the Centre's management company to bill each customer for their water usage.
The company has just been awarded a second phase of the project to become the centre's energy management partner. This will involve a staged approach starting with the installation of utility sub-metering across the original development in all of the landlords areas. This will allow energy analysis to be undertaken and bench marking to be set. We will also be providing the building energy performance certificates.
The heat is on!
One of Nottingham’s newest developments has benefited from the installation of heat energy meters, supplied, installed and commissioned by Wilson Energy’s metering division, L2 Metering Services.
In-line Ultrasonic heat energy meters are monitoring the LTHW heating system within building and are used for the apportionment of energy costs.
Each system comprised of hot water flow part, flow and return temperature sensors and wall mounted electronic integration unit.
Care Homes
Care Homes have been carrying out a series of studies around their care homes across the UK, looking at initiatives for sustainable green power solutions. The project was to understand the pattern and volume of consumption of hot water on site to enable a business case to be produced in support of purchasing Solar Heating technology.
This would involve replacing the conventional heat exchanger system with a newly designed solar powered heating system, which required an effective metering and data collection system.
L2 Metering Services, a division of; Wilson Energy Limited was involved with providing a solution of metering hardware to monitor the consumption of the mains water supplies, collecting data through a GSM operated data logging system and making available the information on line, through a suitable Web portal.
We visited site, provided a costed specification and then undertook the work, ultimately providing a system that now enables the Care Home to view consumption data online. This included commissioning of the complete system by our engineer.
Hewlett Packard

Working with leading mechanical & electrical consultants Hoare Lea & Partners Bristol office, WilSon Energy were called upon to, design, specify and supply a complete metering and monitoring system across various utility supplies.
WilSon Energy supplied all of the mechanical sub-meters, namely; gas, water, heat & chilled energy to Target Site Services , the appointed mechanical services contractor. Additionally we were also contracted to Blair Installations who were responsible for the on-site electrical services part of the contract.
Electricity meter management units were installed by WilSon Energy at various distribution boards around the site and a wireless nodes were linked to each mechanical & electrical meter. A central data collection system brings data back remotely to a central point, where information is then gathered and viewed on a local PC.
Utilising the software supplied HP will generate bills to the tenant for all services used, as well as providing essential energy management information.

Case Studies
(Domestic)
Wilson Energy Limited, has
undertaken various projects,
please see below a
selection of case studies:-
|
St Williams Yard - London N1

Is a new residential development within
a stones throw of Kings Cross, consisting
of 154, one, two and three bedroom
apartments, which a number of are
social housing.
Each apartment has a Danfoss/Redan
Hydraulic Interface unit installed, for
heating and domestic hot water, incorporated into the units are Sonometer
1000 in-line ultrasonic heat energy meters with MBus communication module.
L2 Metering Services designed a star wiring network, through a series of cascade
units and finally linked to a MBus master control unit all of which was installed
by the on-site electrical contractor. (Although L2 can also provide this service).
A dedicated local PC sits on site which is the hub of the automatic data collection network. Each meter is individually addressed so information is transferred at regular intervals, with all of the essential consumption
data. Information will be exported for off-site billing.
L2 Metering Services engineers commissioned and sealed each energy meter, (essential for billing standard meters) and carried out phased commissioning of the total scheme.
The Sawmill - Hull

The Sawmill apartments consist of 48 luxury dwellings sited in Hull city centre. The development is situated on the site of the former Danby’s Plumbers Merchants. A six story timber framed building, clad with various cladding systems and glazed curtain walling, consists of 19 one bedroom 29 two bedroom apartments.
The utility infrastructure for this building is a private network, where the Landlord is billed by the utility companies; through bulk meters. L2 Metering Solutions have been commissioned to supply a complete infrastructure for this site covering metering hardware, data collection and billing.
Metering hardware has been provided to monitor the incoming cold water supply and heat energy meters to monitor energy
usage to each individual apartment. The heat meters will be installed into each consumer unit heat control station within the dwelling itself.
A MBus twisted pair data collection system with data concentrators have been supplied to the main contractor and installation carried out as directed by L2 Metering. Each MBus master unit then communicates data from each individual addressable meter via a PC which is ultimately collected by the MBus software. CSV files are then exported automatically into Wilson Energy's own billing software, which will operated by the client, following commissioning of the
system by our engineers and training of the clients relevant personnel.
